BOOST YOUR IMMUNITY
You might hear this term a lot. But what does it truly to mean to boost your immunity? Better yet, what exactly is your immune system compromised of? Our immune system is made up of both individual cells and proteins as well as entire organs and organ systems. The organs of the immune system include skin and mucous membranes, and the organs of the lymphatic system too. It’s also compromised of good bacteria that lives in your gut. It’s main function is to detox our bodies, and ward off germs that can make us sick, no matter where and how we are exposed to them.
Boosting your immune system is easy. Seriously. It can be done by partaking in simple tasks like, intentionally going out into nature for hikes or walks, or even camping. Spending time under the sun and getting fresh air, even if for only 20 or so minutes a day. Hugging loved ones (that are in your quarantine pod, of course) Telling someone you love them, or expressing gratitude. Your participation in the idle pleasures of life, like nature and friends, is nourishment for your nervous system, and naturally de-stresses the body. Stress is one of the fundamental contributors to immune system depletion, and overall dis-ease in our wellness. So counteracting the affects of stress and filling your metaphorical cup with basic human stuff is a radical act of reclaiming your health. And of course, boosting your immunity.
Herbs are excellent allies for fortifying immunity as well. When life doesn’t afford you to the opportunities to get out in nature every day, we can bring nature to us by keeping our pantries stocked with plants that are intelligent enough to get to work on where our body needs support. Plants like cinnamon, oregano, thyme, rosemary, lavender and mint are high in volatile oils that will kill any harmful bacteria or viruses that may be residing in our bodies. Ginger and garlic go to work in the same way while also aiding in digestion - which is great for immunity because a lot of immune cells reside in our guts. Hibiscus and citrus are high in Vitamin C. Tulsi, and medicinal mushrooms like lion’s mane, chaga, cordyceps, and reishi are both adaptogens and immune system modulators - which means they boost immunity by helping our body respond better to stress.
Camila Creates has taken this wisdom and used it to formulate our Fire Cider specifically for boosting immunity. It’s an activating elixir prepared by hand using Apple cider vinegar, honey, citrus, hibiscus, Fresno chili’s, ginger, turmeric, Angelica root, and some other really lovely herbs • steeped for 6 moon cycles. Fire cider supports our body’s transition from the summer months into cold season by activating our internal systems. It’s soothing for the tummy, ignites digestive fire, and also supports immunity with potent ingredients that ward off cold and flu stuffs. I like to drink it with hot water and lemon or with tea. You can drop it straight into your mouth if you’re feeling sassy. It’s a great addition to finish soups or broth with, or in dressings or sauces. It’s super versatile and simple medicine.
